Travessia Beach Lodge in Massinga, Mozambique is all about understated barefoot-luxury. Take a walk on our endless beach, relax in the shade of our palm grove, paddle out or gaze at the sea from our rim-flow pool, or accept an invite from the neighboring community. Sophisticated whilst down to earth, with no-one around for miles, Travessia is for families, individual travellers and couples alike.
A mere 100 minutes drive from the airport of Inhambane, and just six kilometre of sand track away from the main road, this Eco lodge is accessible enough for a long weekend break and yet still remotely positioned to give you an instant cast-away feeling.

Travessia Beach Lodge - is built on the dunes along the beach, nestled between bush and palm trees and with carefully chosen spots to maximize privacy and seaviews whilst maintaining proximity of the rooms to the lounge, restaurant and the beach. The buildings are constructed using elevated wooden decks and roll-up canvas walls under a roof thatched with local makuti. Wooden walkways lead from the rooms to the Lodge’s main building with the restaurant, lounge and a spacious deck, overlooking the palm grove and the sea. The lodge is entirely solar powered – ensuring a light environmental footprint.
The Restaurant - Our menu is inspired by what is in season and available at the local markets and shops. For fresh fish or crayfish we like to rely on the local spear-fishermen. Whilst mango, pawpaw or avocado are seasonal, our coconuts are available all year round!
For breakfast we serve cereal, yoghurt and fruit, bread with honey, jam, peanut butter, marmite or cheese. Order your English breakfast with eggs, bacon, beans and tomato. For lunch we go light, usually with a salad, sandwiches or a burger. Dinner is served family style at our large communal table or as a buffet. We usually prepare a fish or meat dish with different side servings and salad.
The Beachbar and Pool - A short walk from the restaurant will take you to our beach bar and rim-flow plunge pool. Here, you can stretch out on our locally made loungers whilst enjoying 360 degree views over the endless coastline and a sea of palm trees of the hinterland. If the weather is right, we invite for an early afternoon braai on the pool deck. Our bar is stocked with local beer, soft drinks, a selection of South African wines and spirits, and everything you need for the good old G&T for when the sun sets…
