Nhonguane Lodge is located at the eastern side of the Bay of Maputo along the beach about 1km from the channel (Hell’s Gate) separating the peninsula from Inhaca Island.
The local village of Santa Maria is about 3km from the lodge to the south and stock most necessities.
Sea-food sold on site brought in by local vendors such as prawns, crab and fish are usually available.

The Houses at offer self-catering accommodation at Nhonguane Lodge with fully equipped kitchens that is serviced daily.
The houses can accommodate individuals, groups or the whole family.
All units are air-conditioned, and all windows have mosquito nets.

House 1 and House 6 face the bay waterfront.
All the houses are just a couple of meters from the beach.

House 1 : Beach front with Jacuzzi.
4 bedrooms with A/C and three en-suite bathrooms.
Fully equipped kitchen and private braai area.
Sleeps max 12 people of which two rooms have a double bed; rest are either single or bunker beds.

3 bedrooms with A/C and en-suite bathrooms.
Fully equipped kitchen and braai facilities on deck with pool.

2 rooms with two single beds in each & 3rd bedroom with 2 bunker beds.

House 5 :
1 bedroom cottage with A/C and en-suite bathroom.
Fully equipped kitchen and private braai area.

House 6 : Beach front house with big deck and swimming pool.

Fully equipped kitchen and private braai area.

Safari Tented Camp.
The camp consists of 3 safari tents sleeping 4 people each.
The safari-tented camp offers all the comfort of the necessary amenities with en suite bathrooms, fans and mosquito nets for every bed.
The camp has a large thatched roof entertainment area with kitchen, bar counter and dining area.
Marula trees provide the shade for an outside braai area.

Nhonguane Lodge Location - The Santa Maria Peninsula is an unspoiled Mozambican shoreline situated just to the south of Inhaca Island in Southern Mozambique.
Nhonguane Lodge is located at the eastern side of the Bay of Maputo along the beach about 1km from the channel separating the peninsula from Inhaca Island.
The Bay of Maputo stretches for 40 km from Maputo to the peninsula.
Maputo is 550 km from Johannesburg by road and the Lodge is 38 km across the bay as the crow flies.


Nhonguane Lodge is only accessible with a 4 x 4 vehicle through the Maputo Elephant Reserve or by boat via Maputo.
