Casa do Capitao can be defined as a modern property on an exclusive setting that was once the Port Captains residence nestling in amongst town’s rustic colonial architecture. The area is a mixture of old world Portuguese and Muslim cultures. Alive with diversity.

Casa do Capitao has 25 double rooms extend along the shore facing out across the lagoon. Tastefully decorated in natural fabrics and woods, Casa do Capitao is by far the finest accommodation in the area.

A magnificent restaurant that extends 80 meters over the lagoon. A choice of fresh fish dishes with items caught during the day are availble on the daily menu. Our chefs have manged to combine local dishes which have a strong Portuguese flavour, with menu items from the region. The feeling of sitting on the restaurant terrace watching the sun set over the lagoon whilst sipping a chilled glass of Vino Verde is a once in a lifetime experience. Incredible deck and pool alongside the restaurant with bar.

Local Attractions - A visit to 170-year-old Cathedral. Take dhows across the lagoon to the Maxixe village. Walk through the market of Mozambique’s oldest village and you will find the best fresh bread in the country. 20 Minutes away is our sister hotel, The Barra Beach Club.
Town tours and boat charters are available. Visiting the local market is an experience. Children under the age of 12 stay complimentary and pay for meals only.
