The Polana Hotel, which is set amongst swaying Palm trees and landscaped gardens, welcomes guests to a graceful atmosphere echoing with colonial elegance.
It is comprised of two buildings - the Polana and Polana Mar, both are majestic buildings facing the Indian Ocean. Polana Mar is an annex to the main building situated down the hill towards the sea. There are 153 luxurious bedrooms and 47 suites with private en suite bathrooms. All rooms have air conditioning, a television, a mini-bar, direct dial telephone, and writing desk. The elegant presidential suite comes complete with a separate room catering for a body guard or secretary.

The Polana’s catering deserves its five star rating as Mozambique’s finest. Dining options include a coffee shop, the informal terrace restaurant and the elegant dining room. Adding to the atmosphere are the gastronomic theme evenings, featuring Italian, Portuguese and Fisherman’s themes. For the peckish, freshly baked pastries are available from the coffee shop.

As the sun sinks below the imposing façade, wander down to the outside terrace where teas and exotic sundowners are served in a vibrant atmosphere. The cocktail list is a specialty featuring drinks from around the world. Comfortable chaise lounges scattered around the sparkling swimming pool invite guests to soak up the sun, to the accompaniment of drinks, light meals and snacks.

The comprehensive conference and banqueting facilities at the Polana will seat up to 300 guests.

An exciting recent addition to the Polana is the new casino where an evening can be spent playing blackjack or roulette.

The hotel can also organise guided tours of Maputo, the hotel bus will escort guests to places such as the Costa Do Sol city beach, the downtown market, botanical gardens, cathedral, railway station designed by Eiffel (of tower fame) and the Artedif, which sells high-quality artworks created by the handicapped. Boat trips to the beautiful nature reserve of Inhaca Island are available on Sundays.
