This town is situated right on the coast and is renowned for having one the deepest natural harbours in the world (120m). It is also touted as the most important potential growth point in all of Northern Mozambique evident from the bustling atmosphere and busy port.

Access by air is with LAM schedule flights landing at Nampula followed by 190km road trip.

The area around Nacala is beautiful and unspoiled coastline, there is the peninsula of Fernao Veloso which is covered in baobab trees, and a number of deserted beaches all with the softest white sand.
