TURTLE COVE SURF CAMP

Surf perfection in the wild & exotic paradise of Tofo, Mozambique

Turtle Cove Surf Camp is a rustic and chilled out lodge, build with a strong blend of Mozambican, Ethiopian
and Moroccan architecture, offering an exotic flair amidst the Palm tree gardens.
Situated 20kms from the town of Inhambane, alive and rich with charm, Inhambane is a living museum town,
dotted with street cafes, colourful markets and dhow plying their trade in the warm waters of the bay.

A short drive east from Inhambane, on the ocean side of the peninsula lies the lovely village of Tofo Beach and
Tofinho. Set amongst hundreds of Palm Trees, this village is home to some excellent waves for beginners and
the next point, Tofinho, the real thing for more experienced surfers.

Turtle Cove Surf Camp offers accommodation, restaurant, bar and a resident surf instructor.
The vibe is geared around surfing with videos, camera and board rental.

Tofo and Tofinho in Mozambique - The perfect spot for a surf school:

The Indian Ocean waters are clean and warm, averaging around 24 degrees C.
The main wave which is Tofinho Point, is definitely not for beginners. It is a rock ledge set up,
that wraps around a headland. The wave breaks just off the ledge, on sand and follows the shape
off the ledge making it a very hollow wave, especially on low tide (it loves the spring tides).

Just down from there is Gul’s Point; another quality right hander that actually links up on a big swell to Tofinho Point,
to make it an amazingly long ride.

Heading about a kilometre north to the next bay brings us to the main beach of Tofo. A long bay with tapered swells
heading in, which is protected from the southerly wind and swell and so makes this venue perfect for surf coaching .
The swells are clean and gentle with gradual banks getting bigger as you go north out of the bay - an ideal spot for beginners.

There are other surf spots that work in different winds, like northerlies.

The surf is seasonal, the peak being over winter (May-August), but there is always a steady flow of waves all year round.
The water is amazingly warm and dolphins often frequent the break.

Other activities for non-surfers and spouses:

For non-surfers and passionate yogis there is a power yoga classes on offer, Kapuera lessons,
sushi nights and occasional live music around the fire.

Spend your days learning to surf, go for a scuba dive on one of the many exquisite reefs or swimming
with the whale sharks. Other activities include spear fishing, horse riding on the beach, quad bike trails,
Sunset Dhow sailing, Light house snorkelling and much more!

Relaxed and intimate, Turtle Cove is a place for making friends. It has a unique and friendly atmosphere and
continues to be popular with travelers and those people looking for a touch of adventure and the untamed
Mozambican magic at affordable prices.

Accommodation is arranged in reed and grass huts or camping. The ablution facilities have hot and
cold water showers. Municipal power and water service them.
